With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Winston Wright at the age of 58.
Winston’s life was defined by his love, compassion & devotion to his children and loving wife. As a father, he offered tender support and guidance to his son and daughter, raising each to reflect his values in kindness, stability, and respect through a strong family foundation. Happily, ever after began on his first date with his wife, their shared joie de vivre created a match made in Heaven. His family is forever grateful to share in his vision and love.
From his birth in Fiji, school years in Hong Kong, university in Washington state, and life in Canada, Winston continued to nurture past friendships and relationships worldwide, despite geographical distance. Every person Winston knew held a special place in his heart. These are connections he truly treasured. He loved to reminisce and share stories of childhood, university, travel, youth and hair rock (perhaps the secret to his youthful appearance!)
For close to 30 years, Winston took great pride in his career in Occupational Health and Safety. Roles at Great West Life, Canada Life, Pacific Blue Cross, and recently with Providence Health, boast of his accolades and leadership skills. His dedication to his career is shown in the mutual respect shared between him and his colleagues both past and present.
Winston’s love of food is well known and widely received. His thrill of feeding his family gorgeous dinners was tireless and each meal had the beautiful taste of love. He took great joy in posting his dinners and ingredients in his social media, often scoring the cover page in an online cookbook. This is no wonder as it often took him an extra 10 minutes to sit for dinner while he had photoshoots with each delicious meal.
Winston leaves behind to mourn his son Cameron, daughter Savannah, wife Jillian, sister Lorraine and family (Bradley, Joaquin, Gabriel), former spouse Valerie and the newest member of the family, their dog Bisou - the little white fluffball who stayed lovingly by his side.
Winston was predeceased by his mother and father (Ruth and Norman) and eldest sister (Judy). The ashes of his sweet little lady, Blue the Cavalier, have been sent to cremation, may they enjoy endless walks together for eternity.
A celebration of life is to follow in the upcoming weeks at The Jolly Coachman in Pitt Meadows. Date to be announced.
Winston, our profound love for you will continue here on Earth as we carry your memory in our hearts, living in gratitude for all you have shaped in each of our lives.
The family wishes for you to allow Winston’s light to shine bright as you recreate his tasty recipes and hang your hummingbird feeders to share food with his tiny little friends.

I can't even imagine how his wife and children will fill the hole that he must have now left. I met Winston in the 90's through our mutual friend Chris. Over the coming years we spent many an evening discussing world affairs, drinking way too much and basically getting into all kinds of bother. As Chris said when I spoke to him earlier today Winston was one of the few people we knew that you could take to the darkest of dive basr or to tea with the queen and he could mingle with ease in either situation. As the years passed and he had children and we all became more responsible and grown up, Winston and I stayed in touch with the last time I was able to get together with him in person being 8-10 years ago. Like many others, I looked forward to seeing his cooking and threatened to show up unannounced to what looked to be the most delicious dinners. I joked with him online that I hated him because I was always wandering around hungry after seeing his latest creation. I watched from a distance as he met and fell in love with his wife Jillian and saw the immense love for his children grow as they did. Winston was a scholar, a loyal friend despite the distance and the most unique individual I have ever had the honor to know. Wherever you are now my friend it is now a better place with you there. Scope out the good seats and we will see you again one day....Amanda

My brother from another mother, we met years after birth from the same little town of Lautoka, Fiji Islands, we met as colleagues and we left as brothers. I looked towards you for guidance as an older brother, and we shared a bond, we shared a friendship, we shared great conversations and many lunches. Love to the family as we may have lost the physicality of my brother but the heavens regained an Angel to oversee us. Love Aizaz

Winston...it goes without saying that you have been taken away from us all much too soon. You were always a hoot to hang out with and have a good time! Your down to earth personality and easy going nature was always noticed and appreciated. I've missed playing volleyball with you...it was always a pleasure to be on the same team with that competitive spirit! You leave a loving family and friends behind but will forever be in out hearts đź’•. Rest in peace my dear friend.

My deepest condolences to everyone who loved Winston. I worked with Winston and in the short time, I have grown to respect Winston. He is so kind, gentle and always willing to help. I am from the union and Winston represented the employer, but we always worked together to help the worker back to work.
He was always respectful and such a joy to work with. I wished I had known about his passion in food, we would have even more to discuss.
I am going to really miss Winston.

Dearest Winston, I can’t believe your time here was cut so short. I am really going to miss you. Although our lives were both busy we connected when we could.
Your leadership skills were what many leaders should aim to achieve. You were there always both professionally and personally and really made working with you one of the highlights of my career.
So many memories of enjoyable lunches, getting away from the office to enjoy bibimbap and the classic dim sum roulette.
I remember you being excited to meet Julianne and discussing your children with such love and care in your eyes.
I know you are wearing your cap with your collection of fancy socks or casually in your shorts and tshirt in heaven. Will miss you my friend.

Winston lived across the street in 1988, and he'd often stop by with a pithy comment, some wry commentary, or just to hang out on the couch and read our copy of the Weekly World News. Unmatched in wit or intelligence, he was always good to have around. I was glad to make contact with him later in life and stay connected on social media. I almost always scroll past food posts immediately, but never with Winston's... They always looked so awesome! I'll miss knowing he's out there doing the things he did and being with the people he loved. Godspeed Winston, we're all less without you.
