William Alexander Norman Abramson died on July 10 of a heart attack at his home in Maple Ridge, BC.
Bill was born to Cyril and Eleanor Abramson in Moncton, NB. He is survived by his sister Sherry,(sons Matthew(Natasha)(their son Eddie) and son William(Hilary)) niece Tara(John), (son Alex, and daughter Juliana). He also is also survived by 12 Abramson and Anderson cousins around the world.
Bill spent his early years in Moncton. He played football for Moncton High. He also played high level junior hockey and later was certified to be a hockey coach. Golf, baseball, skiing and swimming were his other passions. Billy was actively involved in High Y. He continued his friendships with many of his high
school friends and played sports most of his life. Later he continued to play baseball in a recreational league in Maple Ridge with his Moncton friend, David Chabbasol.
Following a year attending UNB, Billy began working for the CNR in Moncton. He worked in various roles in the Maritimes and in BC. His last yardmaster remembered him as a good man who had empathy and respect for others. He had a good visit with Steve Callan and many CN pensioners in Burnaby just before Christmas.
Bill, had a great sense of humour. Known as Bunkhouse Bill, Mr. Bill and Billy A, he never missed a chance to tell a joke, or tell humorous story wherever he went.
We choose to remember Billy as a good man who left behind many kind acts in this world. We ask you to remember one of his jokes or tell a funny story to send him on his way on his birthday, Aug. 23. The family will scatter his ashes near where his parents were laid to rest on the same day.

In honour of my cousin Billy’s passing, the family has asked for some memories of Billy or a joke to share.
I do remember when all the Moncton Andersons cousins would go to Grampy & Grammy Anderson’s farm in Sackville NB. it was always bedlam. Billy was a joker and a tease even then liking to keep the pot stirred up resulting in some interesting times with lots of laughter etc. even when Billy & Stevie (his brother) pushed me into the bull pen and Grampy was there to pull me out! Needless to say the boys didn’t think it was so funny when they had to do some barn chores.
As much as a tease and joker Billy was, he would always stand up for the underdog and make sure everyone was treated fairly.
So cousin Billy, I am sure you are still up to your usual shenanigans and a tease even in your afterlife. Please have mercy on me when my time comes. In the meantime, may you rest in peace and your spirit remain free.
Sending all our love, thoughts and prayers …. Judy & Charlie MacKay

A real joy to be around. Bill loved his hockey and other sports growing up in Moncton. I hadn't seen him in a while but he always stayed in touch on social media. He was so much fun...saddened to hear of his passing. We had some great times in the old 'Press Hockey League'. RIP Billy A

He was always encouraging to me on the football field with the knights. As a rookie, I had a lot to learn and he was always willing to give. Met up with Bill at the last reunion and things did not change. He was a force to remember. Rest in pease old buddy!

Will always remember Billy A from our time in Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Moncton, his sailing antics with Steve Fudge and playing high school football together at Moncton High. Thanks to Facebook we reconnected several years ago and often joked about our pasts. Rest well Billy A you’re a friend from my past that I never forgot.
