It is with profound sadness that the family of Tristan Sheppard announces his sudden passing on June 22, 2026, at the age of 38.
Born in Edmonton and raised in Walnut Grove, Langley, Tristan was known throughout his life for his intelligence, generosity, quiet humility, and remarkable ability to master whatever he set his mind to. As a young man, he excelled in sports, playing rep baseball, excelling in Goju-Ryu karate, and, alongside his brother Chris, becoming an accomplished roller hockey player. Together they enjoyed many years of competition and celebrated numerous championships, sharing a lifelong bond both on and off the rink.
Tristan began his career as a plumber, a trade that suited his natural talent for building, repairing, and solving problems. His passion for technology eventually led him into the IT field, where, through determination and continuous learning, he advanced to become Director of Shared Services for a large restoration company. His success reflected not only his technical abilities, but also his integrity, professionalism, and willingness to help others,
While his accomplishments were many, they were never what defined him.
Tristan was as devoted son, a loving brother, a proud uncle, and a loyal friend. He was happiest when he was helping others, whether tackling a major home project, offering his expertise, or simply spending time with the people he loved. Family was at the centre of his life. He was a constant presence in the homes of both his parents and his brother’s family, sharing meals, conversations, laughter, holidays, and countless everyday moments that have become treasured memories.
He had a deep love for animals, nature, and making things better than he found them. His kindness was quiet and unassuming. Acts of generosity came naturally to him, often without being asked and never with any expectation of recognition. His warmth, thoughtful nature, wonderful sense of humour, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Tristan shared an especially close relationship with his brother Chris. The two were inseparable throughout their lives, from childhood sports to family vacations and adventures with Chris, Vivienne, Lam, and Jack. The bond they shared was one of unwavering friendship, loyalty, and love.
His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the extraordinary person he was – compassionate, dependable, generous, and deeply loved. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, his humour, and his unwavering love for family.

Such beautiful words are expressed for your beloved Tristan...your son, brother, uncle.
He brought light to all who knew and loved him.
Knowing him mostly as a child and adolescent, but cheering him on "behind the scenes" in adulthood (via his parents), we learned about his plumbing trade, the pursuits following and reflect on what an accomplished decade he has had.
We remember his gentle, kind, witty nature with love, tenderness and a very heavy heart.

The fond memories of my nephew go back as far as the first year of his life. He and my son were close in age and I remember my brother and I holding one another’s babies at our summer cottage in Alberta, and that they both had bemused looks on their faces because they clearly could not tell us apart. I also remember his kindness and sensitivity and always saw him as a gentle soul who could be easily cut by the sharp edges of life. His skills, intelligence and accomplishments were the reflection of who he was, but it was his warm and compassionate spirit that defined him. Sleep well sweet boy.

Tristan was one of those people you could always count on. He was incredibly smart, generous with his time and knowledge, and always willing to help without expecting anything in return. He approached every challenge with quiet confidence, humility, and a great sense of humor that made even the toughest days a little easier.
More than anything, I'll remember Tristan for his kindness, sense of humor and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. He made people feel supported, valued, and welcome, and that’s a rare gift.

Tristan will be so deeply missed that it's hard to put into words.
He was always so patient and level-headed, with a great sense of humour, and he just exuded kindness. The kind of person who didn’t want anyone feeling left out and make sure to include everyone in the conversation. He made those around him feel at ease, and it was impossible to know him without being touched by his warmth and generosity. I will always remember him as the person who we used to rally with to get through a tough week or to send the silliest jokes over to when we needed a laugh which continued on even after we no longer worked side by side. There is no doubt in my mind that he’s left a hole in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know him and I don’t think we’ll ever truly get over this. Not really.

I was honored to work with Tristan, and I will always be grateful to have known him. When I heard the news, I was deeply saddened and truly at a loss for words.
Tristan was someone who shine so brightly, a beautiful personality, and a contagious smile that could lift the spirits of everyone around him. His sense of humor, and genuine kindness made a lasting impression on so many people. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and that is something I will always remember.
It is incredibly difficult to accept that someone with so much life ahead of him has been taken far too soon.

Rest easy Tristan. You will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
Tristan touched each of us in his own way, and his absence will be felt every day. He had a way of making every day a little brighter. We will miss his quick wit, his sharp mind, and his friendship that made him someone everyone enjoyed being around.
He leaves behind more than memories—he leaves behind an empty chair outside that has always been his, known as "John Wicker." It's a chair none of us can bring ourselves to sit in, because somehow it still feels like it's his. It reminds us of the conversations, the laughter, and the presence that made our workplace feel like more than just a place to work.
Though he's no longer with us, the laughter he shared and the memories we all made together will stay with us always, keeping his spirit present in the workplace for a long time.

It is difficult to find the right words for someone who left us far too soon.
I had the privilege of working with you for the past six years, and during that time you were the kind of person everyone hoped to have as a colleague. You were always there when someone needed a hand, never hesitating to help, no matter how busy you were. Your kindness, generosity, and willingness to support others made a lasting difference to so many of us.
What I will remember most is your smile. It was genuine, warm, and had a way of making even the busiest or most challenging days a little brighter. You treated everyone with respect and compassion, and your positive spirit was contagious.
Your sudden passing is heartbreaking, and it is hard to accept that someone with so much life ahead of them is gone. You will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working with you.
