It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tom Steave Fort, age 85, July 5, 2026. He was a vibrant, caring individual and empathetic friend. Always there with a helping hand for friends and neighbours - especially with computers, or something cute from AliExpress. He passed over in peace of natural causes at his home with his adopted family, Will, Alice and Katelyn, in Surrey, B.C. 

To keep Tom, (born Van Don G Hoac), from Chinese conscription, his mother kept his birth a secret for a decade, only reporting it Feb 23, 1951, Bajan Adraga Mongolia. 

In 1972, after his time in the U.S. Military, Tom explored the Eastern Canadian Provinces and became a proud citizen. A talented computer engineer he eventually settled in BC, opened his own business in Vancouver, and started a new family with his love, Pearly. 

Tom cherished playing videogames with his kids so much he never stopped gaming. Final Fantasy was his favourite, but he also enjoyed professional horse racing, playing GO with friends, and of course having lunch out with friends & family. 

Ever surrounded with pictures of his children, Tom frequently mourned the premature passing of his youngest son, Andrew, and the loss of relationships with his surviving biological children, Anthony, Denise, and Arthur.

As per Tom's wishes his ashes will be scattered over the Pacific. 

In lieu of flowers or contributions we ask that you invest in your relationships, and let those you love know it. We always think we have more time. 

You were and will continue to be well loved, as well as very sorely missed Tom. We will cherish the time we shared with you in our constant memories. 

We commend your spirit into the loving care of the Lord God Almighty. May mercy shine upon you. ❤️
