Thomas George Pickett, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023, at Royal City Manor. He was the first born child of George and Lilian Pickett and was born on May 3, 1932, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. He is survived by his son, Edward Pickett (Lynne), his daughter Marna Cotroneo (Vince), grandsons Robert Cotroneo (Amy), Kevin Cotroneo, and James Pickett, and one Great Granddaughter Kinsley Cotroneo. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mavis Anne Pickett and his grandson, David Cotroneo.
Tom was a proud Commerce graduate of UBC. He had an amazing mathematical ability and used it to accomplish a successful career in Business and Finance. As an avid golfer, he was regularly in the top five percent of many Pro/Am Golf Tournaments. In his senior years, he kept his competitive spirit alive, winning many medals at the BC Senior Games competing in Table Tennis. By far, his fondest memories were of his time with The Kitsilano Boys Band, especially their five-month overseas trip to Europe in 1950.
As per his wishes, he was interred at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in a niche beneath his daughter, Mavis Anne, nearby his parents.
May he rest in peace.

I got to know Tom in the early eighties as one of his several stockbrokers (or should I say bond brokers) he used regularly in Winnipeg. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient as an investor. He was not afraid to wait things out when the markets became rocky and thus was rewarded for his patience. We played golf together a couple of times and I quickly discovered that he had a terrific golf swing. It would take a hole or two to remove some rust but before too long he was striping the ball down the middle of the fairway. As the years passed, Tom spent more and more time in Ontario and British Columbia and we eventually lost contact. I was not surprised that he lived a full life until the ripe age of 90. I really enjoyed Tom as a person and as a client. I believe all his Winnipeg advisors that dealt with Tom in the eighties and beyond have the same fond memories of him as well.
Condolences to Marna, Vince and the entire family.

Tom was the second neighbour me and wife Joyce met when we moved into 280 Strathmillan Road in the spring of 1985. We always remembered Tom as a very friendly and informative neighbour. When he could no longer look after the general upkeep of the yard and all the leaves and snow I began looking after it as long as I could.
I would like to express my condolences to the family and wish Tom a very warm and peaceful rest.

I have known Tom Pickett for almost 50 years. He was my father-in-law for 45 years. We experienced many great things. From our first house, to building additions, fences, garage, family room, hanging Christmas lights on a rooftop in cold Winnipeg, painting walls, and landscaping. He was grandpa to my 3 sons and great-grandpa to my grand-daughter. He attended our kid's sports and school programs. He helped with the growth of our business. He respected and embraced my Italian family heritage. He helped care for our young family as he traveled with us to Hawaii, Florida and a 6-week vacation in Europe. We played Ping Pong and Cross country skied. He taught me how to golf. He always made himself available.
So many fun and positive memories. I am a much better man because of the wisdom he shared with me.
I can't believe he is gone. I miss him.
Rest in peace.

My father was such a big part of my life. He was very involved with all three of my sons and a great mentor to our business.
I really miss him.
