KLASSEN, Ted

June 19, 1940 - June 28, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Ted passed away June 28, 2023, following a brief illness. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Annie McMorris, Laura Fuller, Harold (Janice) Klassen, and Jake Klassen. Ted was predeceased by his brothers George, Hank, John, David, and sister Mary Brown. Ted was a much loved “Unc” to twenty nieces and nephews, and numerous great, and great-great, nieces and nephews.

Ted was the youngest of the ten children born to Maria and Henry Klassen. He grew up in Haney, BC, and graduated from Maple Ridge High School in 1958. Ted’s career in civic affairs began with the Municipality of Maple Ridge. From 1967 to 1995, Ted was employed by the City of Coquitlam. Initially hired as Deputy Municipal Clerk, Ted retired at age 55 as the General Manager of Corporate Services.

To stay active after his first retirement Ted golfed, travelled, and volunteered alongside his sister, Annie, at the Stroke Recovery Association of BC – Coquitlam Branch. His interest in wine eventually led to him working in the tasting rooms of Township 7 Winery, and then at Backyard Vineyards Winery from 2014 until his second retirement in April 2023.

Ted will be deeply missed but he will live on in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 17, at 1 PM, at the Fort Langley Golf Course, 9782 McKinnon Crescent, Fort Langley, BC. V1M 2R5 Please RSVP to tedrsvp2023@gmail.com and join us for the luncheon following the service.
