Shirley Stutt, our Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Shirley was the 2nd child born on December 9, 1926 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Earl and Gretchen Wilson joining her siblings Ken and Glenn. The depression years were not easy, but in spite of their struggles they had a strong family unit who loved each other very much. Shirley loved growing up in Sioux Lookout living right on the lakeshore and made many life long friends. She never walked anywhere, she always ran. As a young girl Shirley loved all sports and especially baseball, her favorite team was the Brooklyn Dodgers. One of her first jobs after high school was at the Hudson Bay. She married Archie Stutt April 9, 1947 in Sioux Lookout an they lived in a wartime housing development. Their son, Donald, was born a year later, and their second son, Glenn, followed three years after that. Archie’s work with CP Air transferred him to Winnipeg and then on to Vancouver in 1958. They settled in Richmond and were founding members of South Arm United Church. In Richmond, Shirley first bowled then played softball, curling, and finally golf, becoming a member of Quilchena Country Club. All along the way, mum made many good friends. We celebrated many of mum's birthdays at the Club with all her family.

Shirley and Archie had many wonderful trips over the years and enjoyed the company of friends and family.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Archie, parents Earl and Gretchen, and brothers Ken and Glenn, and their wives Marian and Georgie. She will be greatly missed by her sons Glenn and Donald (Kathy), grandchildren Kerri (Aaron) Grant, Erin (Kevin), Ian (Stephany) and Lauren (Justin) Chum and Great Granddaughter Lily and the rest of her extended family

All throughout Shirley's life she remained a happy person with a good sense of humour.

Her last few years she resided at Gilmour Gardens and Fraserview Retirement Center. The family wish to thank the staff at both facilities for making Shirley's last few years as engaging and comfortable as possible and for the support to the family.

Shirley and Archie were friends of my family for many years - since living in Winnipeg - my parents Ralph and Jessie had a good trip to Hawaii with them - they were very supportive when my parents died 30 years ago - lots of memories and laughs - my blessings to all the family - Shirley and I often chatted and remembered days gone by - always a pleasure

I was lucky enough to have Aunt Shirley as my aunt and since I was her only niece on her family’s side I was her favourite. She was my favourite aunt as well. I have such fond memories of her. She was quick to laugh and was always there for her family. I knew I could always count on her. She was loving and generous. I will always feel blessed that she was in my life. I love you and miss our phone chats. I know you are at peace now. She was a wonderful part of our family and will always be missed.
