Sheila was born on New Years Eve 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Edwin Derby and Beatrice (Wallis) Derby.
Sheila is predeceased by husband of 51 years, Rob Way, and her brother Ken Derby (Irene).
Survived by daughter Kerris Ellis (Jim), sons Russell Way (Karen) and Christopher Way, grandchildren Calea (Corbin), James, Thomas and Connor sister Joan Ferguson (Bill), and her beloved dog, Cooper.
Sheila grew up in the west end of Winnipeg, attending Daniel McIntyre Secondary School and spending many wonderful times at the family cabin in Laclu, Ontario.
She trained at the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg and became a registered nurse.
She moved to Vancouver and worked as a nurse. Shortly, she met and married Rob and they lived on a houseboat in coal harbour designed and built by him. They then moved to Kitsilano after the birth of their first child. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Edmonton for Rob's work and had 2 more children. They moved back to Vancouver in 1972 and settled into the Dunbar area of Vancouver, the place where Rob had grown up, to raise their family.
Sheila worked for various doctors in Vancouver before eventually deciding to realize her dream of having a retail store. She and a friend opened 'Going Places Travel Accessories and Gifts' store in White Rock and stayed there for 29 years.
Sheila and Rob spent many wonderful times at their beloved cabin at Timothy Lake, B.C. together, as well as with family and friends.
Sheila was able to do a lot of traveling, which she enjoyed, spending time in places like Italy, England, Ireland, Amsterdam, France, New York and many others.
She was very generous and known for her thoughtful gifts. She had a wonderful sense of humor and spent many great times laughing with family and friends.
Sheila and her family are very grateful to all her family and friends for their help and support.

With many loving thoughts of you Sheila over the passing years. Having met in Junior High at Isaac Brock School, we enjoyed a multitude of memories. Although so many years have passed, we touched base from time to time with a mutual friend keeping us up to date. With blessings to your family at this time. Thinking of you brings a welcome plethora of pleasant memories.
