With deep grief and sadness, we share that our beloved beautiful mother, Shannon Gail Kummel, born December 5, 1962, passed away peacefully with God’s mercy on December 26, 2025. Her life was filled with love, strength, resilience and beauty that touched this world in so many ways.

She is survived by her three children- Sarah, Santana, and Peter- who were the centre of her life and will forever carry her strength, love and wisdom she shared with us. She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren Lily, Bella, Amalia, Marshall, and Charlotte whom she adored with all her heart and brought her so much joy and happiness. Her family was her whole world, and she was ours. Everyone who knew her, knows she had a special love for animals and will also will be missed dearly by Aspen whom she had a special connection with.

Throughout her working life, in hospitality, real-estate and sales, and running a business, she built strong relationships through her love for people and had the special ability to share a laugh, talk and make friends with anyone. She worked hard and succeeded to always provide for her children as a struggling single-mom.

She moved through life with tender curiosity and wonder. She carried a bright free-spirited sparkle in her soul, despite any adversity. She was a strong, courageous, open-hearted and trusting woman. She had a deep appreciation for the simple things and moments, especially with her family. She loved music, decorating, the outdoors, nature, swimming, plants and gardening. She was highly creative, and always strived to “make things nice” around her. She loved and trusted in God’s mercy throughout her life.

She will be eternally missed and her memory will live in our hearts forever as we continue each day in honour of the life and unconditional love she gave us. Her bond with her children was deep and enduring, a shared survival of life’s hardships and a love that continues beyond this world. Though her absence is felt with profound sorrow, the gentleness, resilience, and devotion she gave so freely remain as her legacy. We are so proud of her. She is remembered not only in grief, but in gratitude, in memory, and in the enduring love that will always keep her near to us.

Those wishing to honour our mom Shannon’s memory, are asked to plant a “Purple Flower” in their garden, fill a vase, or plant in a special pot, to represent the courage, dignity, survival and to honour of all women who have experienced violence or abuse at the hands of another. Alternatively, please play a happy, reminiscent song or offer a heartfelt prayer.

God bless you mom, Godspeed, rest gently, dance freely, until we can hold you once again.
“Angels danced the day you were born.”
You are so Loved.
