In loving memory of Robert Taylor, husband of 48 years to Deena and devoted father to his sons Nathan (Meaghen) and Ryan. Robert was a doting grandfather to Nora and an admired and fun loving uncle.

Born and raised in Alberta with his six siblings, he enjoyed many trips with his twin brother Richard. He was a newspaper Pressman, long time Scout Leader and an active volunteer with the Little Bits Horse Riding Therapy Association in Edmonton.

Always an adventurer and loving the outdoors, his passion was teaching groups about wilderness survival, hiking the West Coast trail multiple times, and horse camps in the Rockies. He especially enjoyed international travels to visit family.

Upon retirement to White Rock, Robert and Deena enjoyed family,  grandparent time, cruising and local travels.

Special thanks to the wonderful Hawthorne Care Home team for their devoted care, compassion and support. Donations can be made to Hawthorne Senior Care Community.

Here is a tribute from Perry and Karen Kotkas. Robert worked with them at the horseback riding event at several Scouting Jamborees. Pam who they mention in their note is our choir director.

Hello Richard, Elaine and boys,

Pam has let us know that Robert has passed.
So sorry that he is “Gone Home” as they say in Scouting.
It is tough to lose a brother.
He was a good guy; we all enjoyed him at the jamborees. 😊
May God help you all through this time of mourning his passing – and we hope that you all remember the good times you shared during his life.

Our deepest sympathy,

Perry & Karen

On Sunday, my father in law Robert rode off into his sunset. I always valued his kind heart and help for all. If you mentioned needing help fixing something, he’d show up with the tools and supplies to do it no matter who you were.

He worked as a newspaper pressman for decades but most loved his adventures: teaching wilderness survival, volunteering with horse therapy, hiking the West Coast trails and globetrotting to visit family. He was my first stained glass and willow furniture teacher. I’ll always think of you when I hold my whittling knife incorrectly;)

Special thanks to Deena for her devoted care and to the Hawthorne staff for their nursing and palliative support.

Go in peace, RobertO.

Uncle Rob will always be remembered. He fought until the end and all we are left with is our memories. I will always remember the good times we had. You always had a joke, you always had a comeback in a split second and without hesitation. You always had a knack to be able to put smiles on people’s faces and you always had a way of going with the flow. From camping trips and teaching bushcraft to projects around the house you were always teaching in some way. I was genuinely excited whenever I got to stay with you because I knew there would be something fun waiting around the corner. You truly loved to live life to its fullest and never let the little things (even the big things) get you down. The things you have taught me will never be forgotten. As I wipe the tears from my cheek, I still have a smile on my face remembering the fun we had together. Rest in peace Uncle Rob, you will be missed.

On Sunday April 27, 2025 my twin brother and good friend Robert Taylor passed away at Hawthorne Seniors Care in Port Coquitlam BC. Robert was a kind and caring person who would give you the shirt off his back. He could also be stubborn as a mule. This stubborn streak served him well as he dealt with his health issues. He always had a positive attitude and had a strong will to live. He took each new issue in stride and continued on. He never gave up. He was like a cat on its 10th life, but time eventually ran out. I will miss his quick wit and sarcasm. To lose a sibling can be hard; to lose a twin is indescribable. (Photo is from our cruise to Alaska in 2017)
