Richard Main
Write a TributeIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard “Barrie” Main. He died of complications from pneumonia at the Vancouver General Hospital on February 2, 2025. He was in his 84th year and had a full and eventful life. He had many careers, spanning everything from deep sea fishing to driving taxis to Vancouver Parks caretaker. He leaves behind his partner of many years, Seja Magee, his daughter Carrie, granddaughter Caitlyn, his brother Verne, several step daughters and extended family as well as Seja’s extended family. After his retirement, Barrie and Seja worked as a team for the Vancouver Parks Board running the concessions at Spanish Banks, Trout Lake and most recently as caretakers of Gordon Park. He enjoyed his retirement years - he loved befriending all the dogs, dog walkers and workers who frequented the parks and became known as the ‘Cookie Man’. He will be missed by all those who knew him and those close to him will especially miss his interesting storytelling. There will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers please consider donating, in Barrie’s memory, to the BC SPCA. This would be most appreciated by his family and would have definitely put a smile on Barrie’s face! May you Rest in Peace Barrie ❤️

A real softy with the dogs. We always chatted about how Vancouver and the rest of BC was in the old days.

My deepest condolences Seja. Barrie was a great guy and ready to help me anytime during my owner/operator time at Locarno. He was a hard worker and a gentle soul.
Rest In Peace Barrie
