It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Patricia (Patty) Alison Banting (nee Stark) on November 14th, 2025, in Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC at the age of 71 years old.

Patty was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 27th, 1954, to Lillian (Lil) and James (Jim) Stark. The family moved to BC when she was 12 years old and spent most of her life in Hudson’s Hope and Dawson Creek, BC before moving south to help with her growing grandkids and escape the harsh winters of northern BC.

Patty was a hard worker with a big heart and was always looking out for people and trying to help whenever she could. She spent much of her adult life as a support worker for assisted living facilities and loved her job, which is why she didn’t retire until March 2025. She loved being around people and always made sure you knew she was in a room. Good or bad she made sure you remembered your time with her.

She is predeceased by her parents Lil (1985) and Jim (1994) as well as her two sisters Debbie (1977) and Dale (2006). She is survived by her two daughters Tamara and Tanya and their families as well as her remaining siblings and various family members throughout Canada. She will also be missed by her numerous friends and colleagues across the province.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Dodds for his care the last few years and the entire staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their care and assistance in her final days.

In Lieu of a service (which she would hate) we encourage people to spend time doing something that reminds you of Patty- her love of horses (rodeo and show-jumping), watch Star Trek, get in the garden or play a game of Bingo.

We only met once, at Phil and Tamara's wedding at Lumley Castle sixteen years ago.
It was lovely to keep in touch via Facebook, and watch all your grandchildren grow up, through posts shared by your girls.
You will be missed.
Be at peace.

Although we didn’t spend time together in the last few years, due to me moving across the country.
I still remember the many good times we had in Hudson’s Hope playing table games or cards.
You working for ma and pa at the hotel. Too many good times to list.
You will be missed not just by your family, but all of us that knew you.
