Lidia Horvath of Vancouver, B.C.  passed away August 22, 2026 at the age of 92.  Predeceased by her husband Joseph Horvath, sister Franca Ribatto, brother-in-law Curzio Ribatto and most recently, her son-in-law Mark Rademaker.  Lidia is missed deeply by her daughter Christine Rademaker, grandsons Kyle Rademaker (Ashlynn) and Scott Rademaker.  Also missed by her sister Marisa Ramponi, nieces (Marina, Madelyn), nephew (Lawrence), and cousins in Italy.

Lidia was born in Rio di Pusteria, Italy in 1934, and emigrated to Canada as a single woman in 1955 to build a life for herself.  Working primarily as a seamstress she met her husband Joe while at night classes learning English.  Later in life, Lidia began working as a child care attendant for Vancouver Parks Board and continued part time until she retired at age 70.

Best memories were long camping trips with her husband in their VW Westphalia van to obscure fishing lakes or jaunts to the Canadian Rockies. Jasper, AB was a favourite place.  Lidia was happiest walking in the mountains or working in her garden. 

Family was most important to her and being a part of her grandsons’ lives gave her joy. She loved her family and could always be counted on to ask “If you need something…”

Lidia spent her last years at Villa Carital – a tremendous thank you to all the staff that made her final years happy and comfortable- and let her tidy up the rhododendrons incognito.
