It is with deep sadness the family of Laura Patrice Polomark, age 54 of Maple Ridge, announce her passing on December 2, 2022. After a long and determined fight against numerous physical ailments, she passed away peacefully in her home.
She was preceded by the passing of her parents, Lou and Rose Antalek. Left to mourn include her loving husband Mike Polomark, his family, her brother (Ron) sister (Louise), their families, a close circle of friends and many others. She is greatly missed by all.
Laura graduated from Maple Ridge Secondary School. Her post secondary studies included a Bachelors of General Studies at Simon Fraser University and Masters of Arts, Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She took on a variety of roles in her work life including Sylvan Learning Center as a tutor, Kwantlen College as an academic advisor and a counselor at a crisis line.
A distinct thread throughout Laura’s life was her love of animals. She had many different kinds of pets including dogs Loonie and Gizmo. Her appreciation of all living things, big and small, had an influence on many.
She loved warm and sunny Hawaii and all the good associated things. This was where she shared many of her best memories with family.
As a lifelong learner, Laura was a very determined person and had incredible adaptability in dealing with the challenges that she faced.
Laura had a contagious smile and laugh that could light up a room. She will be forever missed.

To the Polomark and Antalek families:
My sincere condolences on your loss. Words can never replace the beautiful lady who left us behind.
My memories of Laura include me helping to teach her to read when she was in grade 1 and I was in grade 6. Also, sitting with Grandma enjoying treats as Grandma showed me the beautiful photograph of Laura and Mike in Hawaii just after they got married.
To Laura:
I look forward to seeing you again someday at Grandma’s (in heaven) as we sit around her table eating cabbage rolls and honey cookies with Grandma saying, “eat it some, eat it some.”
