Cunningham, Jacqueline Agnes “Jane” (Ramsey) passed away June 26, 2023 at the age of 78 in North Vancouver. Born Feb 6, 1945, daughter of John and Muriel (Jean) Ramsey in Edmonton, Jane pursued a degree in Education at the University of Alberta. She went on to become an elementary school teacher which started a passion for education that continued throughout her life. Her children experienced their grammar being corrected right up to her very last hours. Jane is survived by her two children, Kelly (Christoph) and Greg (Meghan), and her granddaughters, Ava and Sabina, and siblings John (Carol) and Sally. Jane is predeceased by her former husband Gary, and brother Bob (Pat).

The Cunningham family moved frequently given Gary’s positions with Ford Motor Company, and Jane was always actively involved in the community and building lifelong friendships. She had close companions in every major Canadian city through involvement with local Newcomers associations, bridge clubs, and golf activities. With a lifelong passion for sewing and designing, Jane spent many joyful hours in her sewing studio. Right up to her final months—leveraging her educational prowess—she passionately passed on her encyclopedic sewing knowledge to Kelly and her enthusiastic girls. If Jane could have constructed a practical helmet and body armour for her sport-injury-prone son Greg, she would have.

Always gleaming with a vibrant smile, Jane was a social butterfly who maintained a constant cheerful outlook. Despite living with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis (since her teenage years), she was incredibly positive, showed unwavering courage, and was a true inspiration to those surrounding her. The family would like to express special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at the North Shore Hospice for their immediate, gentle, and caring support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jane’s memory to the Arthritis Society of Canada.

We will always carry fond memories of you in our hearts and souls.
