In Loving Memory of Elsie Beulah Collins
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our darling mother, Elsie Beulah Collins, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, surrounded by her loving family.
Elsie was born on July 24, 1957, to Earl and Myrtle Collins of Dover, Newfoundland. She grew up in a bustling family of fourteen siblings, where she naturally stepped into the role of caregiver—an instinct that would shape her entire life. From an early age, Elsie’s heart was rooted in caring for others, celebrating milestones, and showing up without hesitation for the people she loved.
The great love of Elsie’s life was her husband of 51 years, Kevin Collins, with whom she built a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and the comforting smell of food always cooking in the kitchen. Together, they raised two sons, Johnny and Andrew, who were the pride and joy of her life. Elsie dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, finding her greatest happiness in time spent together.
Elsie’s love was most often expressed through food. Her cooking was legendary, especially her much-loved chicken and chips, and her kitchen was a gathering place for both family and friends. Holidays at Elsie’s home were eagerly anticipated, filled with warmth, generosity, and a sense that everyone belonged. Her nurturing spirit also extended outdoors, where she lovingly tended her beautiful garden—a quiet reflection of the care she poured into everything she touched.
Family was always at the centre of Elsie’s world. She remained deeply connected to her brothers and sisters throughout her life, always ready to offer support, mark a celebration, or simply be there when needed. This same devotion extended to a wide circle of close friends, many of whom felt like family themselves. Elsie had a remarkable way of making people feel cared for, often through a shared meal, a listening ear, or her steady, reassuring presence.
It is hard to find the right words to describe such a beautiful soul. Elsie was kindness in action—selfless, nurturing, and endlessly loving. In her final moments, she was surrounded by those she loved most, listening to her favourite song, “Darlin’” by Johnny Reid, as she took her last breaths.
Elsie Beulah Collins will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her husband Kevin, her sons Johnny and Andrew, her siblings, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the family she held so close, and the countless memories created around her table.
