With saddened hearts, we announce the extraordinary loss of Ann Schwarz of Airdrie, Alberta on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at the age of 71. Ann was born and resided in Calgary, Alberta for the majority of her life. She later moved to Airdrie, Alberta where she spent most of her retirement years.

Ann is survived by her son Jason, daughter-in-law Serena, grandson Adam, daughter Jessie, son-in-law Chris, and granddaughters Adriyana, Bella, Frankie, and Lily. Ann is also survived by her sister Karen and Pat, and brother Kelly.

Ann was passionate about baking, decorating and gardening. Ann loved any holiday season and would be sure to always have decor out along with a meticulously wrapped gift for anyone she cared for. Family and friends could count on a fresh batch of cookies laid out on her kitchen counter too. Ann had a great love for animals, particularly her cat of 18-years, GEM. She had a special connection with every one of her furry companions that she met along her path. Ann's grandchildren were so very special to her. She had a unique bond with each of them, they were her greatest loves in life!

Ann was a quiet, caring, giving woman who made many special lifelong friendships. She enjoyed chatting on the phone, and you would almost always catch yourself spending an hour or so having conversation and sharing laughs with her. Ann had a wonderful sense of humour and all that knew her will miss her company and those phone calls dearly.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caring staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital and McKenney Creek Hospice for the incredible care and compassion given to Ann and her family in her final days.

I worked with Ann at the school board when she posted into my building. Her friendly personality and her sense of humour made her easy to work with and she settled in quickly with the staff. At Christmas, she always brought something in for us to share at break. Ann was on my shift so I got to know her and enjoyed working with her for the time she was part of our group. Even after she was moved, we kept in touch over the years and we retired at the same time. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Ann was a wonderful part of my life. Jessie and I were childhood best friends, living only 4 houses apart, and we were always either playing at Ann's house or my house. Ann was always so welcoming and warm and her house was my second home. I only have wonderful memories from my childhood because of Ann and Jessie. I was always so excited when I got to stay for dinner or have a sleepover. And I loved getting to go camping at Mount Kidd or going for holiday dinners at Nan's. Ann always made me feel I was part of the family and because of that Jessie and I got to have just the best childhood.

All my love,

Tiffany

We had only met Tanny on a few occasions but you could tell how special she was by observing her interactions with Jess, Chris and our mutual granddaughters. It is always difficult when someone we love is taken away so quickly
but hopefully the family can be comforted by the wonderful memories they created through the years with her.
Our deepest sympathies.
