In Loving Memory of Elinor Celia Stock
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elinor Stock, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and trailblazer, whose strength, resilience, and compassion touched the lives of many.
Elinor passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of May 29, 2025. She was 82 years old.
Born on December 18, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Elinor was an only child.
It was in Winnipeg that she met her late husband, Douglas Stock. Together, they began their family with the birth of their first child, Rickie John. Embarking on a life of partnership, family, and enduring love. They moved to British Columbia, settling in Port Moody, where they continued to grow their family with the births of Skylar Douglas and Jacqueline Joan.
Elinor held several different jobs before finding her calling in women's corrections.
She and Doug also fostered over 15 children throughout their marriage, offering a loving and supportive home to many. After Doug's passing in 1985, Elinor continued to raise her family and excelled in her career serving as a case manager at BCCW (BC Correctional Centre for Women).
In her later years, Elinor met Bill Smith, a man who brought joy, travel, and renewed purpose into her life.
After Bill's passing and her retirement, Elinor moved to the Sunshine Coast, where she found peace and inspiration in nature. Her granddaughter Jessica soon followed, and Elinor's home became a cherished place where her grandchildren and children visited often.
While living in Sechelt, Elinor discovered a deep love for birds and wildlife, often watching the ocean from her patio, reading or puzzling in quiet contentment. In her final years, she traveled with her son Skylar and his husband Paul, and friends. Elinor eventually moved with her daughter Jackie and granddaughter Jessica for the remainder of her life
Whether out on the deck coloring, reading and listening to the birds or cozied up in her chair with a classic film and her knitting, Elinor created a life full of love, beauty, and gentle moments.
She will be remembered for her quick wit, her deep knowledge and love of Marilyn Monroe, and her unshakable spirit. Elinor’s warmth, resilience, and fierce devotion to family will live on in all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
