It is with deep sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Douglas Edward McKay, (born October 19, 1955) on October 10, 2023 in Langley, BC. He was surrounded by loved ones. Doug was larger than life. He had a light inside that attracted people to him - like a moth to a flame. Doug had so much love for his family, friends and those he adopted as family over his lifetime. From enthusiastically sharing his endless knowledge, being a skilled craftsman and doing what he passionately loved most (bass fishing), Doug put his heart and soul in every moment. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Doug was born in the city of Saint John, New Brunswick. He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Pearl. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne; his daughters Amanda (Jeff) and Shawna (Chad); his grandchildren Liam, Myles and Claire; his brothers and sisters Bill, Debbie, Cheryl, Peter and Michael; and his many other family members - cousins, nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life in the coming months. TBD.

Oh, the memories of all the wild adventures Doug led all of us cousins on, when we were kids. His zest for life was infectious and was great fun to be around. What can I say, I am heartbroken. My condolences to the entire McKay clan.....rest easy Cuz.

As a cousin, I’ve known Doug all my life. Doug’s enthusiasm for life and those people that he loved in life was evident. Always kind, always full of humour, always accepting, always gentle and empathetic and always talkative like his wonderful dad. We will miss that guy and we send our condolences and love to his immediate family. xoxoxo
