It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Doris Margaret Armour (née Perrier) on July 13, 2026, at the age of 89.

Doris was born on April 23, 1937, in Baird, Ontario, and grew up in Thunder Bay. The beloved daughter of Archie Perrier and Marie Bonenfant, she came from a large, loving family who stayed close throughout the years. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Esther Hamlin, Rene Perrier, Alice Hodges, Gordon Perrier, and Janice Sitarski. She was predeceased by her siblings Annette Scavarelli, Joyce Hanson, Elaine Davidson, and David Perrier.

Doris was first married to Andrew Molcan and together they had four wonderful children. She later found love again with James Armour, who predeceased her on June 18, 2019, and together they shared over 40 years of companionship, laughter, and family memories.

To know Doris was to know a formidable woman: strong-willed, quick-witted, and armed with a wicked sense of humour that you might miss if you weren't listening carefully. Warm-hearted beneath the sharp tongue, she was fiercely devoted to her family and cherished by a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly.

She was never one to sit still with her mind. Doris was a voracious reader, drawn especially to history and historical novels, and she faced change the way she faced everything else: head-on, and with curiosity, always eager to learn something new. She filled her days with online games and puzzles, weekly Bingo with friends, and at the card table she was untouchable — beating everyone at cribbage and Scrabble alike, often conjuring some obscure, impossibly high-scoring word with a sly smile that said she already knew she'd won.

She also had a gift for growing things. Doris tended a massive garden year after year, set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, coaxing vegetables, flowers, and plants from the soil. She turned her harvest into jams and pickled vegetables, which she loved nothing more than to share.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her devoted children: David (Mara Del Bianco) Molcan, Richard (Mary Anne) Molcan, Katherine (Bob) Healey, and Kenneth (CJ) Molcan; her cherished grandchildren Alana Molcan, Jared Molcan, Erin Molcan, Colin Molcan, Sara Molcan, Lysa Molcan, Zachary Molcan, Connor Healey, and Paige Healey; and her great-grandchildren Haley and Max (children of Jared) and Arielle and Nathan Gauthier (children of Erin), along with her many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

At Doris's request, there will be no funeral, visitation, or celebration of life. The family asks that she be remembered not in ceremony, but in the everyday: a good book, a hard-won game, a sharp joke landed just right, or a garden tended with care. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Brain Injury Canada — or simply plant a tree, grow something in the garden, or bring home a houseplant. She'd approve.

As Doris herself liked to say: "Life is for the living."
