It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Kathleen Bowes [Chezzi], Thursday, April 16th, 2026, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Mission, British Columbia.
After a brief illness, Donna died peacefully in her sleep. She was born in St. John New Brunswick on January 29th, 1942, to her parents John Martin Bowes and Kathleen Winnifred Bowes and was the eldest sister of six siblings.
She is survived by her three sons: David Chezzi [Kerry-Lynn], Daryl Chezzi and Darren Chezzi [Carolyn]. Donna was married to Mansel Chezzi [pre-deceased; February 13th, 2025] for 29 years and shared their love for their three boys.
She is loved and missed by her four wonderful grandchildren: Connor Chezzi [Brooklyn], Carlee Chezzi [Sam Levac], Jack Chezzi and Ferguson Chezzi, all of whom were the loves of her life.
Donna is survived by her siblings: Michael Bowes, Ronald Bowes [Jacquie], Judith Bowes, Robert Bowes [Linda] all in Sudbury, Ontario and pre-deceased by her sister Helen Alemany [nee Bowes] of Mississauga, Ontario.
Donna had a great love for her many nieces and nephews who adored their “Auntie Donna” and leaves behind many special friends whom she cared for deeply.
Donna was proud of her Irish heritage and had a passion for celebrating with laughter, song, drink, and dance. She was fortunate enough to enter her last phase of life listening to her favourite Irish tunes, exactly the way she would have planned it. Her family and friends will miss her laugh, compassion, love, and gift of gab.
Donna worked for Dr. Maurice and Pat Farrell as their medical secretary and then took time off to raise her children while attending Laurentian University to obtain her Bachelor of Social Work degree. She worked for the YWCA Genevra House in Sudbury and later joined the management team as the Manager of Family Violence Services where she retired.
Donna then assumed the role of care giver for all four of her grandchildren, first in Sudbury, ON for the older grandchildren and then moved to Mission, BC to do the same for the two younger grandchildren, where she remained until her death.
The family will miss her love, humour, and wit dearly. We wish to extend our deep gratitude to the staff of “The Cedars” who provided superb care while in assisted living and to Mission Memorial Hospital doctors, staff of the second floor and Emergency department for their kind and attentive care of Donna during her hospital stays.

Donna was a dear friend for many years. We had many deep conversations, shared our love of family and grandchildren, and always found the humour in life. She was my best friend for many years and I will always appreciate that. We also shared our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. I will miss her for now and expect to meet up with her again, in Heaven.
