LaSCHIAZZA, DOMINIC H.

November 10,1934 (Montreal, Quebec) – January 22, 2020 (Langley, British Columbia)

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, Dr. Dominic H. LaSchiazza, M.D. at the age of 85.

Dominic is predeceased by his parents, Marianna Foti and Venanzio LaSchiazza, and by his sister, Maria LaSchiazza. The proud “Papa” of Drew, Daniel, Alexandra, and Benjamin, he leaves behind his children Joanne (Thom Costea), Michelle (Ted Cain), and Michael. He is survived by his sisters Diana Boyce and Yolanda Bayard (Edward Rossy) and his brothers Mario and Robert (Beverlee), as well as extended family.

A graduate of McGill University (B.Sc. Biochemistry 1956; M.D. 1960), Dominic practised medicine for over 30 years in San Jose and Blythe, California. Beloved by many of his patients who spoke of his kindness and humour, he modelled for his own children the value of pursuing a career that “cares for the people”. A lover of books, history, opera, Italian culture, and computers, he will be missed but never forgotten by those who cherished him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when Dominic will be laid to rest in Montreal with his familia. To honour his memory and his life-long work, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated.
