In Loving Memory of David Stewart Wright

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our beloved brother, uncle, and dear friend, David Stewart Wright. David passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in Pitt Meadows, BC, at the age of 67. He was an integral part of our family and our lives, and we miss him terribly.

David’s story began on February 26, 1959. Entering the world as a beautiful, blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby, he was the absolute delight of his parents, Thelma and Norman Wright. As a young boy growing up alongside his siblings, Christopher and Julie, David was naturally social and made friends instantly with his warm, easygoing presence.

During his youth, David discovered a deep love for writing and even published several poems. His writing skills were uniquely brilliant, accented by a rare combination of deep, introspective thoughts and an endearing sense of humor that stayed with him throughout his entire life.

From an early age, David’s interests leaned sharply toward electronics and computing. He was a self-taught pioneer in many ways, developing his own code back when few people owned computers and even fewer tackled coding.

Given his ongoing passion for technology, it was no surprise that he began his career in this field. He started from the ground up, taking his first job as a shipper and receiver. However, his employers immediately recognized the immense potential, sharp intellect, and dedication in this young man. David quickly rose through the ranks to become a Procurement Specialist, eventually earning a well-deserved management position. He was highly respected by his colleagues for his professionalism, sharp analytical mind, and dependable nature until his retirement in March 2025.

David knew how to appreciate life's independent pleasures and found true joy in his personal passions. In his younger years, he loved nothing more than jumping on his motorcycle, spending the day cruising around and enjoying the pure freedom of the open road like any true bike enthusiast.

While he was not a traditional world traveler, David had a deep love for Grand Prix racing. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling solo to Mexico specifically to attend a live race—a thrilling milestone he cherished deeply. Closer to home, David loved the game of golf and always enjoyed a casual, peaceful day spent hitting balls at the driving range.

As he grew into his later years, David became a beautifully quiet soul with a famously quick wit. He did not suffer fools, preferring instead the comfort of his own company and the deep, unconditional love of his family. David loved Vancouver Island, especially the Ladysmith area, and aspired to move there during his retirement. Though his retirement was short, he deeply appreciated the freedom of his final year, living life entirely on his own terms with dignity and quiet strength.

David’s greatest legacy is the love he shared with his family. He was a deeply devoted son, and a supportive, loving brother. He is survived by his brother Christopher Wright (Cathy), his sister Julie Hansen (Steve), his niece Holly, nephews Andrew and Michael, Aunt Pauline Thomas, cousins Rebecca, Sarah, Patricia and Vanessa as well as a warm extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Thelma and Norman, who have welcomed him home.

In keeping with David’s private and quiet dignity, cremation has taken place, and his remains will be interred near those of his mother and father.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date to share stories, raise a glass, and celebrate a life well-lived. He left us with beautiful memories that we will carry in our hearts forever.
