Crystal came into this world with a spark that couldn't be ignored. From the time she was little, she was full of energy, imagination, and personality. She loved to perform. She loved to sing, dance, dress up, make people laugh, and make every holiday just a little more magical. She had a childlike wonder that never left her.
As she grew, she excelled in so many things. She danced competitively for years and earned many awards. She loved performing and had a natural stage presence. She also loved school and learning. One of her first jobs was as a paid mentor for international students, helping them feel welcomed and supported. She worked at Marciano in Vancouver and held many other jobs over the years. Whatever she did, she worked hard and gave it her all.
While living in Vancouver, she began go-go dancing at casinos, and she absolutely loved it. For Crystal, dancing wasn't just entertainment—it was another way to connect with people and share joy.
She also pursued modeling, traveling for competitions and building an exciting career. She won competitions at the PNE and River Rock, appeared in commercials and music videos, had a role in a movie, and was a backup singer on Joey Styles' song Take a Picture—even though they misspelled her name.
Music was one of her greatest passions. She sang in front of her school many times, took singing lessons, wrote songs and lyrics, and dreamed big. I have found notebooks filled with her writing, ideas, songs, and plans. She had an incredible memory and a creative mind that never stopped imagining.
Crystal was also a healer.
She danced in the club's and really enjoyed her roll as Electra Monroe . The industry wasnt ready for a true dancer and someone making waves in the industry. So slowly she was pushed out. This was a blessing however she missed the people and the ignition to her spiritual connections.
As a mobile massage technician she loved healing touch she provided. she genuinely cared about helping people feel better, both physically and emotionally. Whether she was giving a massage, dancing, performing, or simply talking with someone who needed to be heard, she had a gift for making people feel seen. She could make a complete stranger feel important. She understood that sometimes people don't need someone to fix them they just need someone to acknowledge them, to remind them they matter. She gave that gift freely to both men and women.
Life, however, wasn't always kind to Crystal.
Within six months, she survived two serious car accidents that were not her fault. She experienced a traumatic home invasion and bravely testified in court against the man responsible. As I've read through her journals, I now understand just how deeply those experiences affected her. Losing her friend and dance teacher, Kaalia Willett, when she was only 15 years old, left another wound that she carried for many years. Just last year her best friend Stacey also passed and this death was something she wasn't recovering from.
Through those difficult seasons, she found comfort in faith. She believed in God while also embracing spirituality, tarot, oracle cards, and the belief that we are all connected. Many of you probably had readings from her. She was even writing a book about her spiritual journey and wanted to help others find healing and hope.
Despite everything she endured, Crystal remained a light.
She loved fiercely. She forgave deeply. She laughed loudly. She was generous with her time, her hugs, her encouragement, and her heart.
Even when life hurt her, she still tried to make life better for everyone around her.
She was truly one of a kind.
She was our unicorn.
She was our mermaid.
She was our Kiiki.
Crystal adored Baxter. He wasn't just her dog he was her baby, her constant companion, her best friend. They went everywhere together. If you knew Crystal, you knew Baxter. The love they shared was unconditional, and I know a part of him will always be looking for her.
She loved children because she never lost her own sense of wonder. She wore Care Bear outfits, My Little Pony clothes, mermaid dresses, and surrounded herself with Squishmallows and unicorns. She never apologized for being herself. The large family Crystal felt so blessed to be in was filled with little ones and they adored her. Adults sometimes didn't connect with her as she was never on time or sometimes didn't show at all and she was as adults saw it inappropriately dressed in kid like clothing.
But the kids could relate to her and she too them. This is a gift as an adult and I can tell you it's rare.
She once said to me, "Mom, I missed my childhood because I grew up too fast. Now I'm trying to get a little of it back."
That was Crystal. She embraced joy wherever she found it.
She also loved Marilyn Monroe. I think Crystal saw something of herself in Marilyn a beautiful soul who was often misunderstood, judged, and longed simply to be accepted for who she was.
Crystal often worried that she was "too much." She would tell me, "Maybe I should just step out of people's lives because people can't handle me."
I would tell her, "Then maybe those just aren't your people. The people who are meant to walk beside you will love you exactly as you are."
She kept searching for those people. Some stayed in her life until the very end. Others, like her best friend Stacy, were taken far too soon.
Crystal loved her sisters more than they may have realized. She wanted to be closer to them. She wanted a connection. She often apologized for the past and hoped for a better future. More than anything, she wanted healing. Moments did happen through her life were she was close to her sisters. These were very fun light and memorable . But adult siblings get on with their lives and let's be fare we all do this so no one is to be blame.
I spoke with Crystal before her final moments. She was struggling financially and emotionally, but she had a plan. It was a healthy plan. She wanted to rebuild her life, to move forward, and to create the future she believed was still possible. She never got the chance to put that plan into action.
My heart broke the morning we found her. That very same morning, her sister welcomed Crystal's beautiful nephew into the world far earlier than expected. Just days later, her dad's house was sold. Crystal had been waiting for that financial help, hoping it would give her the fresh start she needed. The timing of it all is something our family will carry forever.
If Crystal could leave us with one message, I believe it would be this:
Love.
Love people.
Be kind to everyone you meet.
Stop judging, because you never truly know what someone has lived through or what they are carrying behind closed doors.
Every one of us has a story.
Be kinder with yourself, stop judging your appearance, your mistakes and actions. Go forward and do better tomorrow.
Every one of us deserves compassion.
Please don't forget my girl. Don't forget the laughter she brought, the songs she sang, the way she danced, the way she hugged you, the conversations you shared, or the way she made you feel seen.
Keep her memory close to your heart.
She loved every one of you even if you had disagreements, even if you weren't speaking. I've read her journals, and I found forgiveness. I found love. I found someone who reflected on her own mistakes and hoped people would forgive her, just as she forgave them.
So forgive one another.
Choose kindness.
Seek the light in all things.
Our unicorn, our mermaid, our beautiful Kiiki was taken from us far too soon. Although her body is no longer here, I truly believe her spirit lives on in every life she touches, every act of kindness inspired by her memory, and every person who chooses love over judgment.
Her light here may have gone out, but it has not been extinguished. It lives on in all of us.
So when you see a unicorn, a mermaid, a butterfly, or anything that reminds you of Crystal, smile.
Remember her.
Carry her light forward.
Be the change we all wish to see in this world, and let that change begin with love.
We love you, Crystal.
We will miss you every single day.
And we will carry you in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Finally I wish I could have saved you but I know you are saying “ mom sometimes people don't need saving they need to be listened to” so baby girl I'm listening!
Her Epic celebration of life will happen in Aug 2026. We will announce details on Social Media
Stay tuned!

My first memory of crystal is in Kaylee’s backyard in the late 90s, she was the girl I could only dream of being, fun and outgoing and welcoming. Some people have that gift of making someone feel welcomed and she really did.

I don’t even know where to begin because no amount of words will ever explain how much I love you or how much I’m going to miss you.
Auntie, you were one of the coolest people I have ever known. You were never afraid to be yourself, and that’s something I always admired about you. You made life brighter just by being in it. Everywhere you went, you brought laughter, happiness, and so much love. You had the biggest heart, and everyone who knew you was lucky to have you in their life.
One of the first things everyone noticed about you was your colourful hair. Every time I saw you, I couldn’t wait to see what colour it was next. It fit you perfectly because your personality was just as colourful as your hair. You made the world a brighter, happier place, and now it feels so much quieter without you here.
You loved unicorns more than anyone I’ve ever met. Everywhere I looked, there was another unicorn, and it always made me smile because it was so you. Your house was full of them, along with so many cool collections and unique things that made it feel like such a fun place to be. I loved coming over, looking at everything, and just spending time with you. Every visit was special because you made it special.
One of my favourite memories with you was going to Katy Perry together. I’ll never forget that day and how much fun we had. It wasn’t just about the concert—it was about getting to share that experience with you. We laughed, sang along, and made memories that I’ll cherish forever. Looking back now, I’m so thankful we got to have that time together. Every time I hear a Katy Perry song, I’ll think of you and remember how lucky I was to make those memories with you.
I also want to say something about my mom. I know there was a time in your lives when you weren’t as close as sisters, and I know that made things hard. Families sometimes go through difficult seasons, but love doesn’t just disappear. I’m grateful that you were part of our lives, and I know my mom loved you deeply. Watching her go through this has reminded me how strong family bonds are, even after difficult times. I know she will carry you with her forever, just like I will.
I wish I had one more hug from you. One more laugh. One more conversation. One more day together. I never imagined I’d have to say goodbye this soon, and I still can’t believe you’re really gone. It doesn’t feel real, and I don’t know if it ever will.
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for always being yourself. Thank you for showing me that it’s okay to be different, to stand out, and to love the things that make you happy. You inspired so many people just by being exactly who you were.
I hope you knew how much I looked up to you. I hope you knew how much I loved spending time with you. I hope you knew how much you meant to me because you meant more than you’ll ever know.
The world lost someone truly one of a kind. There will never be another you. Your laugh, your smile, your colourful hair, your unicorns, your kindness, your huge heart, and the way you made everyone feel welcome are things I’ll never forget.
I’ll miss hearing your voice. I’ll miss seeing your smile. I’ll miss making new memories with you. I’ll miss walking into your house and seeing all the things that made it feel so uniquely you. I’ll miss every little thing that I probably took for granted because I thought we’d always have more time.
Since you’ve been gone, I’ve felt even more connected to Baxter because a part of me feels like you’re still with him. When I look at him, I think of you. Being with him makes me feel a little closer to you, and it brings me comfort on the days I miss you the most. I’ll take extra good care of him because I know how much you loved him, and every cuddle, every walk, and every moment with him reminds me of the incredible person you were. In a way, it feels like a piece of you is still here with us through him, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
Even though you’re not here anymore, you’ll always be with me in the memories you’ve given me and in the love you left behind. Every bright colour I see will remind me of you. Every unicorn will remind me of you. Every Katy Perry song will remind me of you. Every time I laugh at something silly, I’ll think of you. I’ll carry your memory with me everywhere I go because that’s where it belongs—in my heart.
Thank you for every hug, every laugh, every memory, and every moment we shared. Thank you for making me feel loved. Thank you for being unapologetically yourself and teaching everyone around you to do the same. I would give anything to have one more day with you, but instead I’ll hold onto all the beautiful memories you gave me.
I love you more than words could ever say, Auntie. I’ll miss you every single day for the rest of my life, but I’ll never stop loving you. I promise I’ll keep talking about you, smiling when I think of you, and remembering all the amazing memories we made together.
Until we meet again, I’ll carry you with me in every colourful sunset, every unicorn I see, every Katy Perry song I hear, every moment with Baxter, and every happy memory that reminds me of you.
I love you forever. 💜🦄
