We are shocked and devastated to announce the sudden passing of our son, Bryden. Survived by his daughter Lily Ann 11, son Parker James, 9, twin brother Cohen, sister Teryn, parents Jenny and Wayne, grandmother Lynne Scott (Jim Scott) and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in BC, Ontario and Quebec.
Always a hard worker who took his job seriously, he started working at 12 yrs old as a hockey referee. While he played baseball, soccer and football, his heart was in hockey where as a goalie, player and referee he was on the ice a minimum of 3 days a week, never missing a game, practise or tournament. He first camped at 6 months old and never stopped. Boating also became a favorite activity, with many years spent moored at Richmond Marina, going up and down the Fraser, anchoring many days and nights at Coward's Cove behind Wreck Beach, attending the fireworks and going to Gibsons. The cabin at Pt. Roberts WA was another constant in his life with countless sleepovers and activities with family and friends. Swimming, drinking, bbq-ing, music and sunshine, Bryden always included and invited both new and old friends to activities he was fortunate enough to be part of.
After graduating from Sullivan High in Surrey, he went on to fabricate trailers at Highliner Boat Trailers where he enjoyed the challenge, creativity and customer service of making the trailers from start to finish. Ultimately, he landed on the seat of an excavator where he was talented, knowledgeable, productive and safety oriented, well beyond his years. He was proud to be relied upon and looked up to for advice and collaboration.
After work, the real fun started; trucks, 4x4ing, dirt bikes, camping and boating at Stave Lake and Caroline Mines were favorite things to do, often every weekend. Lily went to her first mudruns at 2 weeks old, her pink earmuffs bigger than she was, happily sleeping through all the noise. Parker was operating a skid steer by himself at 3 yrs old, and dirt bikes not long after. Swimming off the boat in the ocean or lake? No Problem, No Fear! Lily and Parker, great swimmers but also very brave and experienced as Bryden was a great father who spent lots of time with his kids, exposing them to many physical and outdoor activities and always having fun.
A kind soul, he was generous with his time and abilities to help friends or strangers. He and Cohen belonged to a people-helping-people 4x4 club where, for example, they provided donations for a family at Christmas and moved a trailer for a couple to have an end of life final camping trip. Other selfless acts included saving a naked, drowning Frenchman caught in the currents of the Fraser River at Wreck Beach, and assisting a lady in shock after a car accident by getting her out of her car and into the safety of his and Cohen's work truck until help arrived, later acknowledged by a heartfelt thank-you from her husband.
There will be a gaping hole in our lives without Bryden, particularly for his kids and his brother. A loss of such a talented, kind young man and father who had so much more to do and accomplish seems so unfair. Be kind to one another and please try to, when possible, include Lily and Parker in events so they maintain a comforting connection to their Dad’s world.
A Celebration of Life will be announced in the near future.

Cohen and Bryden,
I can’t believe it’s been 10-15 years since we were permanent fixtures in each other’s summers at Point Roberts. I remember you both like you are in this photo; two heads of wavy blonde hair, chains around your necks, hanging out with our little gang on the Maple Street bench. Those summers were early teenage magic; swimming, biking, campfires, getting up to mischief when the sun went down, and of course watching Titanic at your grandparents cabin (the girls for the romantic storyline, and the boys going along with it for a glimpse of Kate Winslet’s boobs haha).
Your cabin has had new owners for a while now but I always think of “the twins” when I walk by, and like many things down here, the nostalgia for those days is bittersweet.
Cohen, I am so sorry you’ve lost your brother. We haven’t stayed in touch over the years but I really enjoyed reading all the stories above and hearing that you and Bryden kept up with the things you loved when I knew you; the outdoors, trucks and boats, a kindness and willingness to make new friends, and of course, an occasional bit of mischief.
I’ll continue to think of you two (along with your sweet grandparents and mom Jenny) fondly when I walk past 2134 Maple Street on my way to the beach.
Wishing you all the best, your cabin friend Jill

All through high school the twins were the go to duo for fun.
There are so many of my memories filled with Bryden and Cohen from those days.
There was always mischievous chuckles, never knew what those boys were up to!
Seeing him as he grew up, how his life evolved, having his kiddos... teaching them all the fun things, I am so glad I got to witness him being a dad, and a fun one at that! I think the last time we all were together, we went to a car meet down the road in a big ol' truck and did a *fairly large* burn out... then ran out of gas at that exact spot. Always had laughs and a good time.
Bryden - your presence will surely be missed on this earth! I know where ever you are, you are the life of the party.
To the family, Cohen, Brittany and his little Lilly+Parker, I wish you all the ability to find comfort in his memory, that occasionally over rides the greif of this huge loss. You are all in my thoughts. ❤️

Some of my best memories was boating with Cohen and Bryden. Sleeping in their parents boat in Richmond, sneaking into the River Rock casino pool and hanging out in front of Wreck beach for no reason at all...
RIP Bryden ❤️🩹

Bryden and i were great friends from a young age, from riding skateboards as kids to camping and dirtbiking and boating as we grew older. He carried this presence that could light up a room . I remember when lily was born and he called me in pure excitement and said I had to come visit. I was working that day and I took the company van and went and saw the whole family. He made me hold her and I had never held a new born child it was a beautiful day. The moments we shared will forever be cherished . I love you man. May you rest in peace .

In Loving Memory of My Brother, Bryden Maclean 🪽
Today, I’m remembering my brother Bryden not only for who he was, but for the love he shared with everyone around him.
Bryden was a wonderful and loving father, a devoted son, and the best brother anyone could ask for. He had a way of making people feel loved and cared for, and his presence brought something special to our family that can never be replaced.
Losing a brother is a pain that’s difficult to put into words. I’ll carry so many memories, laughs, conversations, and moments with me forever. I wish we had more time, more conversations, and more memories to make together.
Bryden, you’ll always be a part of me and our family. Your life mattered, your love mattered, and the memories you left behind will live on in all of us.
My family and I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown my brother. It makes me proud to see how much love he had. He loved his kids more than anything.
Rest peacefully, brother. Until we meet again, know you’re loved, missed, and never forgotten. ❤️
I love you and miss you, Bryden. Always and forever. 🤟

Dear Jenny,
My heart is breaking for you! I have only recently heard this tragic news and have tried to be in touch. Your beautiful boy. I have such fond memories of Bryden, Cohen and my Jack at the cabin when they were young. Carefree days for them all.
Sounds like Bryden had a busy life, full of people and activities that he loved.
Thinking of you and sending hugs and sympathy and condolences at this very sad time. May his memory live on thru his kids and your conversations with them. xx

I was 14 when I met bryden. He was goofy and funny, caring. Our friends older sister invited us to go white rock with her where we walked along the railway. For some reason Bryden and I thought it would be a good idea to race each other on the tracks. It wasnt at all a good idea. I was a head of him and I looked back and saw him catching up so I tried to run faster and tripped and fell pretty hard. He felt so bad after that, asking me over and over again for about ten minutes if I was OK.
I dated one of Brydens friends for almost 4 yearsish. Bryden was our steve, if you know what that means. If you don't, it means it was always me, Brandon and Bryden. There were mornings id wake up to Bryden sitting at my feet on the bed and he'd say well good morning, as if it was a normal way for one to wake up.
Bryden checked up on me from time to time after my break up. He checked in on me after I had my first daughter.
We shared many laughs over the years. I wish we could have continued.
My condolences go out to Brydens children, Cohen, his parents, Brittany and his friends and family. 💜
