Brian was born in 1943 in Douglas, on the Isle of Man, to Mylrea and Evelyn Kissack, a brother to his siblings Paul and Pat. Whilst on the Island, he attended Murrays Road School and King Williams College before graduating from University College, London. He leaves behind his wife Doris of North Vancouver, his daughter Nicola and family of Austin, Texas, his son Christopher and grandson of Vancouver as well as his brother Paul and family on Vancouver Island and his sister Pat and family in the south of England.

I met Brian when we both lived in Commonwealth Hall in London in 1963-1965, as part of group of 8 students from University College and Kings College who shared the same table for breakfast and dinner every day.
I next met up with Brian in New York when I went to Columbia University in September 1967 and he was kind enough to let me stay with him for nearly two weeks while I found a flat near the university. This rescued me as I had not budgeted for the cost of New York life. After I returned to London in summer 1969, Brian and I kept in contact mainly by Christmas letters.
However in 1997 I came to Vancouver for a conference. That is when I first visited his new home and met Doris, and most memorably was given a guided tour of the interior behind North Vancouver. Brian loved to be a tour guide around his adopted city.
In 2011, I visited again with Carole and our son Nicholas (a marine biologist), where Brian did an extended tour including to the salmon hatchery.
Apart from our Christmas letter exchanges and talking to Marjorie, our paths have not crossed since our last visit.
I will remember Brian for his kindness – especially when I arrived in New York and, later, in Vancouver – and his hospitality.

While I only had a limited amount of time with Brian during his time in My Parkgate Break, I saw what an amazing life he lived and how much he had done and seen. I truly loved having me him and Doris. I wish I could have met them both earlier.

Brian - we did not get nearly enough time together, but I am grateful for every minute we had.
Even now, in the darkest moments of my life, I know how lucky I have been.
You will always be in my heart - rest in peace my love.
