It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Douglas Britton announce his passing on August 8, 2026 after a short battle with cancer.

Brian was born in Sarnia, Ontario, where he spent most of his childhood, until his family moved to Port Moody, British Columbia in 1991. At the age of 3, Brian put on his first pair of skates and was heavily involved in the hockey world ever since.  He spent his youth playing competitive hockey until he transitioned into an adult recreation league where many strong bonds were made.  It was one of Brian’s absolute prides to become the coach of his son’s Port Coquitlam minor hockey team. He was definitely a Sports Dad and loved spending most of his free time cheering on his son and daughter.

He was very proud of the years he spent as an Estimator and Project Manager at Tight5 Contracting. And was very lucky to spend his career surrounded by great friends.

Brian will be remembered by his family as the sports lover, the funny guy, the quick witted one, the knower of all things trivia and the loving and playful uncle, brother and son. But most of all, he will be remembered as a loving, caring, supportive and devoted father.

Brian is survived by his Father, James Britton and Mother Barbara (Rawcliffe) Britton, aswell as his sisters, Valarie (Ray Wellington) Milroy and Kimberley (Troy) Sihikalo . He is also survived by his beautiful daughter, Isabella Britton and equally hockey loving son, Benjamin Britton.

He may be gone from our lives, but never our hearts. Brian will forever be loved and missed.

The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff and volunteers at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge. Even though it was a short stay, it was an easier one because of each of them.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brian’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
