Audrey was born to Henry and Exilda Ainsworth in August of 1942, the oldest of five children. Audrey passed away suddenly on August 27, 2024 at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver.
She was predeceased by her husband Al in 2021 and her beloved son Edward in 2018. Audrey is survived by daughters Darlene (Pierre) and Laura (Scott), granddaughter Halle and grandson Antonio, siblings Arthur, Dolores & Barb, as well as treasured family members across Canada.
She grew up on the family farm in Grandview, Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg where she worked as a telephone operator. Audrey and Al married in June 1962, moving to Vancouver in 1964 to start their family. After a few moves in the Lower Mainland, they bought their family home in Deep Cove, North Vancouver where they raised their three children. They also started their own pool maintenance business, Blue Water Pools, in 1979, retiring in 2012.
Audrey was renowned for her delicious cooking, her coveted Christmas cakes and the beautiful gingerbread houses that she and Al made (and all of the neighbourhood kids enjoyed demolishing). They hosted annual Christmas and summer Open Houses, bringing neighbours together, and bowled in a local league with friends. Not one to miss a special occasion, she even mastered making birthday cakes over an open flame on family camping trips. She was a Brownie, Girl Guide & Boy Scout leader for many years, sang in the Deep Cove United Church choir, and enjoyed travelling and learning about other cultures. She rarely missed a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, enjoyed game shows, board and card games, and was great at crossword puzzles. Audrey always had pets in her life but she especially found joy with her Persian cats over the years: Shadow, Smokey, Blubeard, Silver and Mimi.
In the last months of her life, Audrey dealt with health issues and physical limitations, but she remained active with gardening and visits with her closest family members, for which she was very grateful.
Rest in peace Audrey, and God Bless.
Her family appreciates and thanks Audrey’s care team at Inglewood for their dedicated service.
She will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations to animal rescue organizations are encouraged.

I write on behalf of my family, members of the larger Dove collective from Africa to Europe, the US and Canada, to say that we shall miss the friendship that my mother, Dorothy and my children and I experienced. Your mother was so embracing to us, bonding our 2 families. Certainly the fruit does not fall far from the tree, indeed Dar and Laura reflect Audrey's kindness. Love and Blessings.
