In Loving Memory of Andrew William Poulsen

Andrew William Poulsen was born on November 13, 1950, in Swan River, Manitoba, to his loving parents, Ida Shirley and Vilhelm Sofus Poulsen. After graduating from high school, Andrew moved to Winnipeg, where he worked at CBC, K-Tel, and other jobs over the years.

In 1977, Andrew made the move to Edmonton, where he faced significant struggles with addiction. These challenges affected various aspects of his life, including his ability to maintain a career, yet Andrew never lost his core qualities of kindness, compassion, and understanding. He remained a loyal and loving friend, brother, and individual, always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

His struggle with addiction was long and difficult, but in November of 2002, Andrew made a powerful commitment to his recovery. His dedication to sobriety and self-improvement led him to become an active and valued member of the 12-step community, where he not only found strength but also gave back by sponsoring others. His example of living a life of sobriety and service helped many individuals on their own paths to recovery. Through this journey Andrew came to know Jesus and became steadfast in his faith.

In his later years, Andrew relocated to Vancouver, where he spent his remaining days with his partner, Lanie.

Andrew was predeceased by his mother, Ida; father, Vilhelm; older brother, John; and two nieces, Roshel and Daughn. Andrew is survived by his partner Lanie, brother Robert, sister-in-law Christienne, sister Eleanore, brother-in-law Earl, nieces Rhonda, Vaughn, Trü, and nephew Trevor. His story is one of redemption, growth, and unyielding love, showing that even in the face of great personal struggle, the human spirit can prevail.

Andrew will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his dedication to others, and his ability to find joy and peace in life after hardship. He will forever be missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
