In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Andra Sigrid Livija Enkurs on January 1,2025 at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster BC at the age of 60, with her loving husband & soulmate Wayne and her loving sister Iris by her side.
Andra was born in Toronto, Ontario on March 5, 1964. She stayed life long, long distance friends with Jennifer & Karlene even with her moving to British Columbia in 1988 and lived with Margaret and her daughter Rosalie in Vancouver for many years and stayed life long friends with them both. She met her life partner Wayne Murley on November 9, 1991 and they shared over 33 years together when passing.
Andra loved her life in Vancouver & their home in Cloverdale (Surrey BC) and the many close neighbours in the Eaglecrest subdivision. She really enjoyed the camping / RV'ing lifestyle that her and Wayne did since 1993. They would visit the beautiful Oregon Coast every year (sometimes 2 or 3 times a year) The last few years Andra spent her retirement winters in Arizona, California & Nevada. She also explored many parts of British Columbia while camping with great friends, Dave & Paula, Dieter & September and also included riding an ATV with Wayne in the last 15 years. Andra's travels also included many trips to Nova Scotia to visit Wayne's family, and special family trips with Iris & Marek to Hawaii, Las Vegas & Texas.
Andra worked many years in group homes, then with the Vancouver School board, then 30 years with the Surrey School District as a Teacher Assistant / Special Education Assistant. Cheryl was one of her favorite work & personal friends, and their friendship included shared spiritual interests.
Andra's true lifelong passion was her 4 legged furry family. She had several special cats growing up, and then both cats & dogs in her life with Wayne. Mostly sable Shelties (Logan, Copper, Abby) & Siamese cats (Shadow, Cocoa, Harley, Misty), but also furry ones that were just rescues and in need of a loving home & family. ( Sasha ) At Andra's passing she had in her life, Scout & Cassie (both rescue Shelties) & Riley (our Tabby cat rescue)
Andra was predeceased by her father Mirivaldis & mother Livija Enkurs (Kanbergs). Andra is survived by her loving soulmate & partner in life, Wayne Murley (Surrey, BC) his sister Jan ( & Owen) in Corvalis Oregon, Andra's loving sister Iris ( & Marek) Armstrong BC, her brother Dennis ( & Linda) Kelowna, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life with Andra's ashes is going to be a journey of travels done with Wayne to the special places that she so much enjoyed over the years that will include special friends & family along the way.
In lieu of flowers or cards, a donation in Andra's name could be made to any SPCA or Pet Rescue organiation.

A letter to Andra
Dear Andra,
We miss you every day and am so sad that you left us.
We think of you often and recognize that all of our memories shared will help us navigate our days ahead.
We have been like the 4 Musketeers over the last 25 plus years and have many memories
Lots of camping stories that to this day still make us chuckle.
Remember when we had a campfire on the beach at Deception Pass where we roasted hotdogs only to find out that the fire was illegal. You never seen 4 Canadians distinguish a fire so fast and retreat
We recall the many times shopping at U.S. Walmarts and each of us secretly adding unnecessary items into the others cart and laughing when we reached the checkouts and discovered the contraband .
Also there was the time we had lunch on the beach at Birch Bay which included some very expensive beans and many seagulls became aware of an open bag of chips on picnic table.
The best camping story is when yourself and Wayne arrived at camping spot late Friday eve only to discover that in your haste to cross the border and start your camping fun you had forgotten your trailer keys at home . A locksmith saved the day.
And all the dining out we did.
A and W for onion rings and Coke Zero,
Wendy’s for burgers and their Frosty, Olive Garden for yummy pasta and Venettis for peppercorn steak.
We had a lot of conversations with meals. We chatted about current events, the Canucks, B.C.Lions and the Seattle Seahawks .
Lots of pet and granddaughter stories and of course automotive and gas mileage talk which had us gals rolling our eyes.
Many more memories will comfort us and bring a smile to our faces.
In my mind Andra , you are sitting in a comfy chair reading one of your books with your pets close by or perhaps you are watching your favourite sports team on tv while munching on snacks and a Coke Zero
Maybe sometimes you can look down and give us a little wave
I promise we will wave back
God Bless you
Paula and Dave

Andra was always a special owner who was always a pleasure to serve and visit with. It's always refreshing for us to witness that very strong bond that can build between pets and their family, Andra definitely had that bond in abundance. She will be deeply missed by us all.

Andra was a bright light in what can sometimes be a dark world. I will be forever grateful for the love and laughter she brought to (my brother) Wayne’s life, and to the lives of those around her - both the two-legged and the four-legged. Andra was open and warm with *everyone* she met. The world would be a better place if we all followed her example. My heart goes out to Wayne, Iris, and Dennis and their families, as well as Andra’s closest friends and co-workers. They knew her the best, and will miss her deeply. So will I. Shine on, dearest Andra! Wherever you are right now, I just know that you are making somebody smile. :-)

It was a year ago today, this sweet memory. We were camping near Yuma, Arizona. We had gone for a ride, and it was a beautiful day. Andra was so happy and I'm fortunate to have caught this precious memory in time. I, so very much miss her.

I had the pleasure to get to know Andra when she and Iris lived in Toronto. We shared many fond memories of my visit there, especially the time spent in their house where their father made many delicious home-cooked meals for us. Andra was a very kind, generous, caring person who had a love for furry friends. I was very saddened to hear about Andra. Iris and Wayne, I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Andra left this world a better place and we will miss her dearly.

Dearest Andra, You were always the first one call me to wish me a happy birthday, which was a day before yours. I remember sharing some fun times when you lived at my mom's (Margaret) place in my old bedroom. You were always kind, generous, shared a few nice dresses with me for special dates :) Your laugh and your sense of humour and your love for your furry friends are part of my forever memories of you. Wayne & Iris, I'm so sorry for your loss. This was definitely a life that was cut way to short but I know that she's out there somewhere with all the fur babies and also with her mom and dad <3 RIP dear Andra

Oops, I clicked after my email. Dear Iris, Wayne and Families. My deepest sympathy for all of you. I was truly shocked when I heard Andra had passed away. She phoned me on Dec. 17th, telling me she and Wayne were leaving to go South. We had a long talk reminiscing about our old times together. She talked me into taking Marcus from Richard. He was giving the cat away because of allergies. When Marcus jumped from her upstairs window to the neighbour's roof early one morning, we got a blanket and stood outside, yelling, "Jump Marcus" into our spread out blanket. One night in winter, the power went out, so Andra, Catriana, and I went outside to build a snowman. Andra loved her soap operas that she watched every day. One Christmas, my sister, Lola invited Andra and Iris for Christmas dinner. Andra was scared to introduce Wayne to me, because she thought I might not like him, but I did. We all went to see Garth Brooks in concert. I still can't believe she is gone. Rest in peace my friend.

Ohh sweet girl Andra!
To friends, acquaintances. and family, my tears fall with yours, in puddles. My sincerest sympathies across the miles to wherever you are, when reading this.
To say it was tragic and unnecessary just doesnt begin to even capture the unfortunate circumstances that transpired, and ended so tragically.
Andra was always a pet lover, I remember you, carrying your Siamese cat “Mink” around in your arms. You were always covered in cat hair too!!
You looked up to Iris, and often tagged along, when she and I played in the backyard. You also had a very typical sibling relationship, screaming and getting angry with one another, then best friends again the next day.
Growing up,my family lived right nextdoor to your family, in Toronto
The memories flood my brain, and have taken up alot of space, ever since hearing about your passing.
Our families were connected in more ways than just sharing the middle wall, that separated our 2 living spaces of our duplex.
We celebrated xmases together, attended the same school across the street, and were in and out of each other’s homes and backyards endlessly.
We had a carefree childhood, filled with adventures, home cooked Latvian and Polish foods, and spent endless hours on our front porch, people watching and just hanging out.
Many years later, staying in touch with Iris, I would ask about you…..and hear about your soulful connection to a guy named Wayne, who was your prince! I was so happy for you!!
Hearing recently, about how much travelling you & Wayne had done, together with your fur family, I was proud and grateful that these were opportunities you took, to spend precious time with friends and family. I know, these memories and places will now and forever be cherished by all those whom you crossed paths with, but especially for Wayne.
Iris has lost a best friend, a dear sister whom she was so proud of, and who will now exist in her heart forever and ever.
Andra, may you be surrounded and loved on by all the 4- legged friends, you could ever want, as well as all those who loved you and are now alongside you in heaven.
RIP dearest girl. 😇

We will miss seeing Andra on our camping trips together at the Oregon Coast. Her sense of humor, her obvious love for animals, and the way she loved our dogs. In fact, our Abby dog was the reason we first met. She was just a puppy when Wayne and Andra were camped next to us at South Beach State Park. Andra was so eager to meet our sweet girl, and that was the beginning of our nearly 17 year friendship. This photo is from one of our most recent trips, and it's how I will always remember Andra: loving the camping life surrounded by dogs. Rest In Peace, dear Andra. Give our Abby a hug when you see her up in heaven. ♥️

My dear friend Andra,
I will always remember your warm, generous, caring nature, your mischievous sense of humour, infectious laugh and your love of animals.
When we met in Grade 9 art class you told me that you “just knew” we were going to be good friends…and you were right. We shared many adventures together in our teens and 20s in Toronto, which we still recalled and laughed about through the years in phone calls or on my visits out to the west coast staying with you and Wayne and your well loved four legged family. I was so fortunate to have you as a friend.
To Wayne, Iris, Dennis and your families, I wish you peace and comfort from all the wonderful memories you have of Andra.
Jennifer

Dearest Andra,
I remember meeting you for the first time what feels like so many years ago at your house with your dogs Abby and Scout, who were both just babies at the time. You were immediately kind to me, opening up your home and sharing your space. You showed me a dear collection of China figurines that you were so proud of and i remember clearly think “wow, what a collection” and how much love had clearly gone into their keep. You held such a gentle, kind and beautiful nature that shone through the moment people met you. These are traits shared and kept with your sister, Iris, who is now the grandmother of our very loved daughter, Ivy. Your memory lives on in everyone who loved you and we will cherish you for many generations to come.

To my dearest and one and only sister, Andra. Words cannot convey how much I miss you. It hurts so much that you are no longer here for me to love and hug. I have been so blessed with joy to have you as my "baby sister". I will forever hold your hand in mine so you don't blow away in the wind. I have been praying to God that he has placed you amongst the dogs and cats frolicking around a meadow. You would be so happy there....your special heaven! All the doggies and kitties would be spoiled to no end.
You have always been a sweet, kind, compassionate, caring soul.
I love you to the moon and back!!! I cannot believe you're gone.

To my Auntie Andra.
You will forever be in my heart and thoughts until I pass on. Truly one of the most caring and kind people I have ever known. Your capacity to love and be kind is unrivalled. I love that I have you as my Aunt. I love you

When Andra and I met, camping and ORVing, we found that we shared a strong fascination and belief in the after world and the paranormal. Perhaps now she will explore what she believed in.

Andra was one of the most loving and kind-hearted people one could ever hope to meet. Her warmth and positive outlook were always uplifting. She had a playful, upbeat way of relating to others, and it was always so delightful to see how much she loved Wayne and their beloved pets. I'm sure she will be missed by many. Thank you, Andra, for being a shining light in the world.
