Understanding Direct Cremation: Simplified End of Life Arrangements

No one likes talking about death even though 100% of us will experience it. Unfortunately, this means family members are often left to guess what their loved ones wanted, especially if there is no will. Did they want burial or cremation? A traditional funeral, small gathering of a few friends, or no service at all?

In today’s blog we will be looking at direct cremation, the most common and simplest method of final disposition.

What is Direct Cremation?

Direct cremation is the name given to final disposition where following the death of an individual, their remains are transferred from the place of death to a sheltering facility, cremated, and returned to the family.  There is no viewing, no service, and no reception.

Why choose Direct Cremation?

Direct Cremation is the ideal choice for those who want a simplified end of life arrangement without any fuss or fanfare. During times of grief, emotions tend to be high, while energy levels are low. With direct cremation there is very little effort needed by the family, making it a welcome option in that environment. This allows the family to grieve at their own pace and, if desired, plan a memorial at a later date when they once again have the energy to do so.

The other benefit is the cost is relatively low compared to other funeral options.

What options can accompany Direct Cremation?

While direct cremation represents a simplified end of life service there are a great many options that can be added to a cremation package to customize it to fit your needs. These include a selection of cremation containers, various urns and keepsakes, dna preservation, parting stones, and death certificates.

We also offer visitations for up to 20 guests who are able to visit with the deceased for up to 30 minutes prior to cremation.

We hope we have been able to show you the simplified end of life arrangements that are possible with our direct cremation service. If you have any questions about direct cremation or any of our other end of life services, please feel free to contact us.
