How to handle cremation arrangements when family members live in different cities
Death is something that can often come without warning which also means that cremation arrangements may need to be handled without much chance to plan them ahead of time. This can be a problem when the family of the deceased live in different cities and may not be able to travel to assist in handling the cremation arrangements. In today’s blog we will be going over how to handle cremation arrangements when family members live in different cities.
Remote Arrangements
At A Simple Cremation we handle the majority of our cremation arrangements remotely, making it as easy as possible for out-of-town family to arrange a cremation for their deceased loved one, even if they can’t make those arrangements in person. All that family members need to do is contact us when they have been notified of their loved one’s death, we can then arrange for the transport of your loved one from their place of death to our sheltering facility. We can also complete all of the necessary paperwork remotely, via either phone or email, ensuring that the cremation can go ahead even if no family members are present in the city where the death has occurred. Lastly, we will arrange for the transportation of your loved ones remains from our crematorium to you or another family member through Canada Post Express.
Preplanning
Another way to ensure that cremation arrangements are easy to handle when family members live in different cities is to preplan the cremation arrangements. Many funeral homes and crematoriums offer preplanning services that allow you to make all of the arrangements prior to death. These services allow individuals to have control over their final disposition and because it is being handled prior to death there often aren’t any time constraints placed on hashing out those final arrangements. This also means that it is easier for family members who live in other cities to say their peace regarding those final arrangements. These preplanning arrangements give peace of mind to families that all the arrangements are handled in the event of an expected or unexpected death.
We hope we have been able to show you some of the ways in which you can handle cremation arrangements for a deceased family member even when family members live in another city or town. If you have any questions about cremation services, please feel free to contact us.
