Susan “Suzy” Barnes
(1960 - 2022)
It is with deep sadness I say goodbye to my sister, my friend.
Suzy was a vivacious soul. Standing only at 5 ft, she knew how to command a room. She worked her whole life in the hospitality industry, from Luxury Hotels to slinging beer in Main Street bars. She was the best damn waitress by far.
She is survived her sisters Darlene Rosner and Cathy Davidson, nee Barnes, her two brothers Mike and James Barnes, her nieces Emily Rosner, Jordyn Davidson, her nephews Ryan Rosner, Dennon and Taylor Barnes, Brandon Davidson and great nephews Logan and Nathan Rosner, many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Suzy had a heart of Gold, she loved her family and friends. Her body, poisoned by addiction and alcohol imprisoned her soul. Now, after death, she has risen a beautiful butterfly and ascends into heaven.
Fly free dear sister, until we meet again, I will miss always.
A Celebration of Life will take place in October, her birth month, later this year.

My deepest condolences to everyone who Suzi was part of your life. She was someone who lit up a room every time she entered with her most contagious smile! Suzi was a kind, welcoming and loving member of the family and she will be missed dearly but never forgotten!

I first met Suzi when she was a child, not too long after Darlene and I met in Grade 8 and became fast friends. I thought all the Barnes kids were adorable, but Suzi was such a pretty little girl! My! -- the spitting image of her Mom, Edna, I thought. My brother, who was two years younger than Dar and me, had a huge crush on Suzi in high school and thought she was gorgeous: "Suzi Barnes, Suzi Barnes..." he said, sighing.
I remember her mostly from those young years, but also from our early twenties, after Dar came back from Quebec. She was lively, very funny, slightly sarcastic, and a magnet at parties and dinners. She was always the most glamorous, too. I know she was a dearly loved daughter, sister, aunty, great-aunty and friend. She will be so missed! May you rest in sweet peace, Suzi.
With loving condolences to the Rosner-Davisdon-Barnes-Benoit families

my dearest Suzi. I will carry you with me always. We shared everything & everyone! All the kids loved you so much, no one can explain it in the right words. You were the heart of every family get-together, and it was all the younger ones who truly saw your beautiful heart. Say hello to everyone in heaven! AND…you were never 5 feet, ha! 4 feet,10 inches, with love your taller, big sister. I love you.

Suzi, where are you?
I wake Up still and think you will still be there. Who is going to admire all my decorating now! OMG, I can’t believe you died on me. I know you are free from your struggles. My little doggies miss you. God they just loved it when you came over. You always protected me and would pull up your sleeves and fight for me if you needed to. You were a Queen in the Brookswood days. Vancouver won’t be the same without you. You had such compassion for those less fortunate than yourself. Yet you had so little. Your big heart made up for it. Rest easy now dear sister. Make sure Mom and Dad, and Aunt Alice are behaving up there.
Hugs and kisses - Fly free, be free, you beautiful butterfly. 🦋

So sorry to hear this sad news! I remember Suzy starting waaaay back when Cathy and I were silly little kids driving our older siblings crazy! All my memories of Sue were of a smiling, friendly, and happy girl. I’m so sorry that she struggled in her life. Now that’s she’s free of all the burdens and pressures this world put on her, I pray she soars easy and her soul is restored and free from all the garbage that bogs us down. Rest easy Suzy!
Condolences to all the family. So sorry for your loss.
