The Bereavement Register will prevent any mass mailings from being sent to the deceased.

Phone: 1-877-565-5515 or visit their website.

Life Insurance

Deceased may have had individual life insurance or insurance through an employer.  Your Insurance Agent is a good resource for assisting with filing a claim.  If the insurance policy is through an employer, call the employer for guidance.

Computer/Laptop Files

You should check for online accounts that have saved passwords before disposing of the   computer. Consider having the hard drive “scrubbed” before selling or scrapping it.

Canada Post

To manage an estate and receive mail addressed to a deceased individual you can have mail re-directed to your home or business. You must take the death certificate and proof of appointment (Will, Statutory Declaration) to the post office to apply for this service.
